SWISS & GLOBAL CUP - CLASSIC 12' DINGHY 2012
In 2012, Italy, Slovenia and Switzerland are going to host the competition dedicated to wooden Dinghies. The 11th edition will feature 6 stages in 6 prestigious locations. During the Swiss & Global Cup – Classic 12' Dinghy many helmsmen and bowmen, on board their small vessels, will attempt to gain the title of 2012 Champion and to be awarded of one of the numerous prizes. The towns of Varazze, Naples, Castiglione della Pescaia and Torre del Lago (IT) will warmly welcome all contenders. Portoroz (SLO) and Luzern (CH) have also been chosen as a location for 2 stages of the competition. Technical skills and sportsmanship will, as always, be the leitmotiv of the competition. In each of the stages, contenders will be able to explore and discover the peculiar and beautiful features of each location.

VARAZZE 30 MARCH - 1 APRIL 2012
Also in 2012, Varazze will be the first location in the Swiss & Global Cup - Classic 12' Dinghy: the region of Liguria has had the task of welcoming Dinghy sailors for the 4th year. The town of Varazze is well known for its long beaches and its lively promenades: it will host the competition from March 30th to April 1st, showing all visitors the beauty of its medieval centre and the strong link it has with the sea. The regattas will take place in the waters of the seashore, usually attended by surfers, in front of the harbour of Marina di Varazze. This highly efficient structure has been given 5 stars by the international Marine Certification Institute of Bruxelles. The Ugo Costaguta Yacht Club and the Varazze Yacht Club have been collaborating with the organisation of the event since 2009.

NAPLES, APRIL 27 - 30, 2012
The beautiful city of Naples will welcome all contenders in its Bay and its labyrinth of small roads, where history and culture intertwine and make of it a charming touristic destination. Overlooked by the Vesuvius, an iconic element of its landscape, Naples is a stage on the sea where Dinghy sailors and visitors will have the chance to enjoy the richness of its historic centre, of its flourishing nature and of its world-famous food culture. Guests will spend four days of relax, enthusiasm and sport in a location that seems to live in a time of its own: the prestigious Reale Yacht Club Canottieri Savoia.

CASTIGLIONE DELLA PESCAIA, JUNE 1 - 3, 2012
During the first days of June, the competition arrives in Tuscany, in Castiglione della Pescaia. This small sea town, located a few miles from Grosseto, is regarded as a prestigious holiday destination, especially because of the high quality of the waters, awarded with the Bandiera Blu title. Surrounded by ancient walls and overlooked by the homonymous castle, Castiglione features an impressive sea and country landscape.

PORTOROŽ (SLO) JULY 5 - 8, 2012
The fourth stage of the competition is international, and goes all the way up to the coastline of Portorož, a town in Slovenia. The Dinghy sailors will be welcomed in the waters of Marina di Portorož, a prestigious touristic harbour created with the intention of making travelling easier. The town is a well known holiday destination, attended by many people because of its position along the coastline of the bay of Pirano, for the quality of its waters (awarded with two Bandiere Blu) and for the presence of many spas and leisure structures.
The Portorož Yachting Club has collaborated in organising the competition. It will also host the AICD World Cup dedicated to Dinghies. ![]() |

LUZERN (CH) JULY 27-29, 2012
A new challenge for the world of Dinghies: for the 5th stage, the small wooden boats will be plunged into a mountain landscape, in Luzern. The Swiss city will host the contenders in the waters of Lake dei Quattro Cantoni, in a peculiar scenario. Close to the organising club there is a medieval centre, one of Switzerland’s most visited and charming destinations, for its monuments and its closeness to Mount Rigi.

VIAREGGIO, SEPTEMBER 28 - 30, 2012
The final stage of the Swiss & Global Cup - Classic 12’ Dinghy 2012 edition will be held in Viareggio, the beautiful city of mariners overlooking the Ligurian Sea, organized by the Club Nautico Versilia and the Società Velica Viareggina, in collaboration with the Circolo Velico Artiglio of Torre del Lago. From September 28th to 30th, the most populous and renowned city in Versilia is going to welcome participants and companions to decree and celebrate the circuit winner.
